Lavender heaven or the soul of Provence

Don’t know about you but I love lavender: coffee with lavender syrup, aromatherapy with lavender oil, the lavender color is… Well, you understand that I’m crazy about this plant and I want to tell you about Provence – one of the most attractive places in the most romantic country.

To say that Provence lavender fields are everywhere – nothing to say. The acres of lavender fields lies close to several villages and towns in the North of the region: Avignon, Arles, Grasse, Aix-en-Provence, Gordes, Apt, Valensole.

Aix-en–Provence is a beautiful old town with narrow streets, houses in pastel colors and flowers on the balcony and cute wooden shutters on the Windows. In Aix-en -Provence the life slows down.

Avignon is a “city-discovery” for lovers of the history and architecture. Here you will enjoy a huge fortress wall, the Palais des Papes and the Pont Saint-Doucouré.

The city of Valensole is called the romantic Provence. It’s tiny – you can run all over it in 10-15 minutes. But here lovers of lavender will feel like a fish in water – lavender fields will constantly surround you. Be sure to visit the famous Abbey at sénanque de – not far from the city.

Remember that the period of lavender flowering is at the end of June and at beginning of August. In cities you can easily rent a car and go after “the smell and color of lavender”.

By the way, even after the whole day staying near the lavender – a head does not spin. Be sure to swipe your hand across the delicate purple flowers to feel an incredibly pleasant aroma.
Advice from me: don’t forget to visit the factory of L’occitane!

Ah… I told you about Provence and became sad. Want to pack up and fly to lavender heaven again. Well, I know that I will certainly return to those unbelievable places. At the end, I decided to tell you words of the famous French chef Lucien Olivier.
“Where I grew up, lavender blooms, and when that happens, the earth looks as if it reflects an infinitely deep blue. When I close my eyes I feel sweet, sour fragrance of flowers that blows even bees away because it`s impossible to resist this smell)
